Redemption

i had to get in something fast yesterday. didnt have time for an AoS workout.

i tried my hand again at the 1-10 burpee ladder with 10 swings in between each rung.

last time i did it was the first time and i was still smoking. i had planned to do 1-10/10-1. it took me almost 30 min to get through 1-10 and i was dead. pathetic. i felt like a loser.

yesterday i tried it again, this time i haven't smoked in over 4 months. i only did 1-10 BUT i finished that motherfucker in 13 MIN!!

thats right. AND i had something left in the tank. I did 2 sets of 3 windmills R/L alternated between 30 coach maxwell approved bicycles.

i felt GOOD when I was done. not sure what i'm going to have time for today. gonnahve to be another quickie. david whitley sent out an email for a double KB workout that i might run through.

Ok, I have to admit. I've been reading your blog for a couple of months now...but I never comment.

I'm not a "fitness guru", just a girl trying to lose weight. I bought my first kettlebell this year after reading about it on a blog, and I've been now looking at other "kettlebell" type blogs looking for ideas.

Anyway, today, after I read what you wrote about completing it in 13 minutes, my mouth was hanging open. I was smiling because holy crap, I dont' know you...but I'm sooo excited for you!

I don't want to seem stalkerish, but I'm trying to read more "fitness blogs" because frankly, the enthusiasm is contagious. So even if I don't know all the abbreviations you use or whatever for your workouts, just know that when you write about what you accomplish you are inspiring me.

I did my own ladder style workout with my wimpy kettlebell and managed to do 150 swings alternating with a minute of cardio in between each set.

I've lost about 35 pounds and have another 35 to go...anyway, thanks...and CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!

I HAVE clicked on the AOS link (because you keep talking about it). But, honestly...I'm sooo intimidated by some of the work outs.

I first read about a kettlebell on Skwigg's blog. So I went out to Academy and bought me one. Only a 10 pounder. (I know you are laughing now!)

Anyway, I had no idea how to use it...so I got a got a DVD from Andrea DuCane on some workouts, then bought Pavel's book (Enter the Kettlebell). Now I mainly am swinging a 20 pounder (that I bought at Academy)...but, I think I'm ready for the next one. The swings are getting a little too easy.

I want to get the 16kg from Dragondoor next to be like the cool kids. Is there really a difference in the type of kb?

And I really need a beginner type workout. Which one do you think would be a good one to start with? I was doing Andrea's DVD, then I just started doing my own thing based on some of the blogs I was reading (like yours).

Yesterday I did 50 swings, 1 minute cardio, 40 swings, 1 minute cardio...on and on until I got to 10. I'm getting stronger and for the first time in my life, I STARTING to see definition, especially in my shoulders.

(By the way, I found you thru Texas Bob and I found him thru Squat RX and I found him thru Gubernatrix and I found her thru Skwigg. Geesh! But, I'm from Houston, that's why i clicked your link.)

Thanks for responding. I just wanted you to know that I know sometimes it seems like no one is reading, but I always read your workouts and I am encouraged that one day I'll be flipping a tire too. (Ha!)

AoS can be intimidating BUT... start where you can. Get there Enter the Kettlebell workbook. It's what i started with when i got serious. You should be swinging a heavier bell more than likely. Swings are one of the things that are easier to do with the correctly as the weight gets heavier b/c u cant cheat.

if you live in houston you should come hang out at the park sometime. im no RKC but i can show you a few things. I post it on here all the time- workouts at the park are an open invitation. Don't be 'SCUURRD or intimidated that you wont be able to keep up, you'll look weak blah blah blah blah. its all about having fun and *maybe* throwing up :)

ps: the throwing up part is optional.

Hey brother, you don't know me, but I've followed your posts at AOS. Jen B is how I found your blog, it's usually fun reading your posts. Any way, absofuckinglutely outstanding on the burpee ladder!. I try it from time to time and the best I've done is 8 ladders in 10 minutes.
